In an interview on Wildcat 91.9's Morning Mix-Up show, hosts DJ Wagz and DJ Slim Jim sat down with Carly and Toby from Resonate a capella. The group they are a part of is an innovative one because it is entirely student-run. The conversation on the show delved into the group's unique structure, where leadership is shared among members. Carly, a soprano-alto and HR major, expressed how Resonate provides a much-needed creative outlet amidst her academic pursuits, saying:

"I love being able to sing with all of my friends... perform with my friends and make new connections."

Toby, a bass singer and architecture major, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of music in his life: "It's really just something I've always loved doing...this is definitely the best outlet I could ask for."

The group was born out of a desire among friends to create their own sound and ensemble. Toby explained, "We are a completely student-run group...it's all the more rewarding when something like our concert takes place."

Additionally, one of Carly's recent Resonate performances that she highlighted, was their appearance at Purple Power Play.

Carly noted the group's plans to expand their reach "We do have plans this semester to branch out more and head more into the Kansas City area."

One standout piece they played on the Morning Mix-Up was their performance of "29 #Strafford Apts/PIRATE RADIO" which DJ Wagz described as "eclectic" and "an explosion of sound."

Resonate a capella's commitment extends beyond live performances, as seen in their music video "Skate," filmed at Skate City in Kansas City. Carly shared some insights into the video production, saying "It was crazy...people were falling down left and right...but it was a lot of fun." The group plans to continue producing more creative projects like Skate in the future.

To wrap up the Morning Mix-Up DJ Wagz and DJ Slim asked about future projects and auditions, emphasizing how diverse the group members are. Toby remarked on this diversity, saying "We have a very low amount of music majors...it's great to get to meet all the different people." Carly added that Resonate "Is a really big collaborative space during rehearsal."
