As we approach tomorrow's election, it’s crucial to remember the significance of this moment for our nation’s democracy. Like every election, this one plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of our country. The act of voting is not just a right; it is a responsibility that each of us carries as citizens. Our participation in this process is vital, and it contributes to the collective direction we take as a nation.

At Wildcat 91.9, we recognize that elections can stir strong emotions—both before and after the results are announced. While much attention is often given to the build-up, with its passionate debates and differing viewpoints, we sometimes overlook the emotional impact that follows once the results are in. Whether your preferred candidate wins or loses, it’s natural to experience a range of emotions, from joy and relief to disappointment or frustration.

In times like these, it’s essential to remember that we are part of a community that values care, support, and understanding. Being part of the K-State family means that one of our greatest strengths is our ability to come together and support one another through difficult times. As we navigate the post-election season, let’s be mindful of how we engage with each other’s emotions. Listening with empathy and acknowledging diverse perspectives can go a long way in fostering a sense of unity.

For those who may need additional support in processing their feelings after the election, K-State offers a variety of resources. The Office of Institutional Equity serves as a confidential resource for reporting any incidents or concerns. Additionally, students can access Lafene Counseling and Psychological Services for emotional support, while faculty and staff can reach out to the Employee Assistance Program for guidance.

It’s important to remember that no matter the outcome of this election season, our community remains strong when we stand by each other. We may not always agree on political matters, but we can still show respect by listening to one another and acknowledging the emotions that surface during this time.

As Wildcats, let’s strive to navigate this post-election period with grace and civility. Together, we can ensure that K-State continues to be a place where everyone feels heard and supported—regardless of their political views.

Elections are about more than just winning or losing; they are about participating in the democratic process and respecting the outcomes while supporting each other through it all.

Let’s continue to uphold these values as we move forward into another chapter in our nation’s history.
