MANHATTAN, Kan. — The Kansas State Wildcats successfully defended their home turf, capturing the second game of their inaugural Big 12 conference series against Utah. This victory extended the Wildcats' winning streak to two games while reducing Utah's losing streak to four.

The series resumed on Saturday with Utah seeking to break their three-game skid. Kansas State, fresh from a 10-7 win on Friday, aimed to maintain their undefeated home record. Utah entered Tointon Family Stadium determined to end their losing streak, but the Wildcats were resolute in their pursuit of another home victory.

The game mirrored Friday's contest, with Utah scoring in the first inning. However, Kansas State responded forcefully in the bottom of the second, scoring four runs following Bear Madliak's home run. The Wildcats then held Utah scoreless in the top of the third before erupting for seven runs, highlighted by Maximus Martin's grand slam. This decisive lead would remain unchallenged for the remainder of the game.

Utah managed their second and final run in the fifth inning, but the sixth was scoreless for both teams. Kansas State further extended their lead with a run in the seventh inning. The eighth and ninth innings were scoreless, securing the Wildcats' 13-2 victory.

Kansas State's impressive performance was marked by three home runs, showcasing their dominance at home. The team demonstrated significant improvement from Friday's nail-biting win, allowing only one walk in the seventh inning. By adapting to Utah's defense, the Wildcats effectively scored 13 runs, claiming the second game of the weekend series.
