The Kansas State Women's Basketball team moved up one spot in the week four Women’s Basketball AP Poll. Ranking No. 9 in the nation, the Cats are inside the top 10 for the first time this season. The AP Poll was released before the Wildcats' first loss of the season on Nov. 26th against No. 13 Duke. The USA Today’s Coaches Poll came out after the loss and put the Wildcats at 13, dropping three spots. Expect the AP Poll to do similar when the week five poll is released.

Bracketology Breakdown

The first-ranked test of the season put the first tally in the losing column for the Wildcats. The loss also bumped K-State to a four-seed in most bracketologies. The Wildcats would still open the tournament hosting at Bramlage if they got a four seed.

Big 12 Rankings Rundown

The Big 12 watched as No. 8 Iowa State was upset over the last week.  The loss bumped the Cyclones out of the top 10 and down to 15. Four Big 12 teams come in as top 20 teams with all teams except Iowa State climbing, K-State (9), West Virginia (12), Iowa State (15), and  TCU (17).  The USA Today Coaches Poll ranks came out a day after the AP Poll and has the Big 12 ranked at, West Virginia (10), Kansas State (12), Iowa State (15), TCU (21), and Baylor (22).

Future Focus for K-State Women's Basketball

A Look Ahead at the K-State Schedule

K-State plays Wednesday versus DePaul in the third-place game of the Ball Dawgs Classic. After that final match in Vegas, the Women's basketball team will return home for a game on Sunday against the Bears of Central Arkansas. Both games should be good bounce-back games for the Wildcats after their tough loss to Duke. Sunday’s game is a doubleheader with the men’s team playing before the women’s game. Both the men’s matchup against UAPB and women’s against Central Arkansas will be aired live here on Wildcat 91.9 FM.
