Cardi B’s highly anticipated album, Invasion of Privacy, not only invaded my life but completely took it over. First, dropping “Bodak Yellow” and later on “Bartier Carti” and “Be Careful”, many believed she couldn’t come out or live up to the expectations. As much as I love Cardi, even I doubted whether or not she would be able to pull an album that would outdo her shot to stardom. The “Love and Hip Hop” star has been dominating the internet the last few weeks and has received nothing but praises for her Trap, Latin, R&B combination of an album as well as her coachella performance. She produced clever lyrics calling out her fiance Offset, haters who expected her to lose momentum and her fellow “Nasty Hoes.”
With superstar features from the Migos, Chance the Rapper, Kehlani, 21 Savage, YG, J Balvin and Bad Bunny, she was able to capture so many vibes from so many artists to create a compilation of new music. Although her entire album is nothing short of bangers, my favorite song on the album is “I Like It” with features from J Balvin and Bad Bunny. The latin inspired tune was a throwback to her dominican roots and it set well with many listeners.
Whether in the mood for salsa, a slow dance or twerking Cardi has a song on the album for each of those moods and more. The album was not a let down and she proved that she will be around longer than the “15 minutes” all her haters expected.
For Invasion of Privacy, I will give it a nine for her thought provoking lyrics, creativity and throwing in more than just twerk trap music. Looking forward to see what else Cardi has coming, eeoww!
