Molly Brown and Shea Roy are DJs for the Molly and Shea show. They are graduating this weekend, so we are sending them off with a DJ Spotlight!
Hometown, year, and major?
Shea: Wichita, Kansas, Junior, Kinesiology/Pre-Physical Therapy with Spanish minor
Molly: Overland Park, Senior, Public Relations
Why did you join KSDB?
M: I love music and Jordan Swoyer told me I’d love KSDB. Here I am 3 and a half years later!
S: Molly recruited me even before my freshman year started, plus my dad DJed for KSDB when he went to K-State.
What have you learned so far from working at KSDB?
S: I’ve learned how to operate a radio board which is an interesting skill to have.
M: KSDB has taught me to step out of my comfort zone especially when it comes to public speaking and listening to new music.
What is your favorite part about working at KSDB?
M: Spending time with one of my favorite people, Shea Roy.
S: There are really cool songs that you can’t necessarily hear anywhere else and also I get to goof off for an hour with my best friend Molly!
What are some albums/artists you’ve been listening to lately?
S: Glass Animals, Broods, The Kite String Triangle
M: I know its old but I’m stuck on Glitterbug by The Wombats right now.
What is your favorite movie of all time?
M: It’s a tie between 21 and 22 Jump Street.
Any parting words for KSDB or words of wisdom for new DJs?
S: You don’t have to be an expert in all things alternative music. I hadn’t heard of most of the bands/songs KSDB played until I started DJing, so don’t be afraid to jump right in even if you don’t have any experience!
M: Always be looking for new music because you never know what you might find. Also, there is no such thing as going to too many concerts. On another note, KSDB allowed me to meet so many cool people and get over my fear of speaking in public. College wouldn’t have been the same if I hadn’t had a chance to channel my inner DJ!
