Although not technically a DJ, this week’s DJ Spotlight goes to our News Director, Lucas Peterson, for his work on the KSDB News Updates and Roundtable events. You can tune into the Weekend News Roundup Sundays at 4:00p.m.

Name: Lucas Peterson

Hometown, year, and major?
Liberty Missouri, Sophomore, Political Science

Why did you join KSDB?
I joined KSDB to contribute to student-run radio, become a part of a great group of students, and work in the news department to learn more about journalism and news reporting.

What made you want to DJ a Jazz rotation?
I have the Weekend News Update on Sunday during the Jazz rotation. That was just the best time for airing that program.

What have you learned so far from working at KSDB?
I have learned so much since I was hired in January. For starters I have learned about the technical side of radio and how it works. Also I have learned how to write original news stories, how to report the news over the radio, and so many other aspects of journalism. Finally, I’m getting more experience in functioning as a team to make sure all our programs at KSDB are a success.

What is your favorite part about working at KSDB?
My favorite part of KSDB so far has been the Round Table discussions. We have only had one on race relations so far that went really well. I enjoyed talking to students of different cultures about race related issues on campus and across the nation. I’m also really enjoying researching and contacting people for our next Round Table discussion which will be over concealed carry of guns on college campuses in Kansas.

What are some albums/artists you’ve been listening to lately?
I have been listening to Future’s new album and Post Malone’s Stoney.

What is your favorite movie of all time?
I have multiple favorite movies of all time. The movie that I would argue is the best is either The Godfather or Schindler’s List while the movie that I could watch on repeat forever would be either Interstellar or It’s a Wonderful Life.
